‘MarYSol’ - A love of the Baltic Sea and sailing
Sailing is not just a hobby, it's a way of life - Frizzi and Thomas from Berlin know this only too well. With their sailing yacht Hanse 470 named ‘MarYSol’, they have made their home harbour in Greifswald and the Baltic Sea their territory over the years. Their story is characterised by unforgettable trips and a special connection to the Wendel & Rados team, who have been with them from the very beginning.
Quick help with problems big and small
The first challenge awaited the Hanse 371 in 2005: a defective impeller. Thanks to the rapid assistance of the in-house engine service, they were able to meet the planned crane deadline after all. This was the beginning of a long collaboration that continues to this day.
‘We particularly appreciate the fact that we can come to Greifswald with small and large enquiries at any time,’ says Frizzi. Whether it's spare parts, repairs to the sprayhood or the annual rig check-up - you can always rely on the support of the Wendel & Rados team.
Sails and a canopy in use for years
From their first large G2 genoa, which served them faithfully for 15 years, to the current sails, a self-tacking jib, a gennaker and a spinnaker - they have been sailing their Marysol with Wendel & Rados sails for years. Even their sprayhood, which has now been in use for 12 years, continues to defy the elements. ‘The black is still black,’ enthuses Thomas. High-quality material combined with excellent workmanship pays off here.
Baltic Sea cruises and new dreams
The Baltic Sea has become a second home for the couple. From Sweden to Hanö Bay, they have explored many corners of the area. Something special is on the agenda for 2025: taking part in the Midsummersail, the longest regatta in the Baltic Sea. 900 miles non-stop - from Wismar to the yellow buoy near Törrehamn in Sweden. On the way back they are planning to enjoy some time together.
And after that? The pair are already thinking about bigger adventures. In 2026, they plan to head south to the Mediterranean. The plan: to leave working life behind and start a new chapter on their own keel. ‘The voyage should be a state of mind, not a deadline cargo,’ they say with a smile.
Alongside the adventures, the connection to Wendel & Rados remains a constant. "You are not just a service partner for us, but a reliable companion. From the first time we set the mast to today - we know we're in the best hands with you."
We wish Frizzi and Thomas a great sailing season and are already looking forward to hearing their stories.
